The flight was designed to expand the flight envelope and demonstrate aerial-imaging capabilities by taking stereo images of a region of interest to the west. Ingenuity was commanded to climb to an altitude of 33 feet (10 meters) before translating 492 feet (150 meters) to the southwest at a ground speed of 9 mph (4 meters per second). At that point, it was to translate 49 feet (15 meters) to the south while taking images toward the west, then fly another 164 feet (50 meters) northeast and land.\r\n\r\nTelemetry from Flight Six shows that the first 150-meter leg of the flight went off without a hitch. But toward the end of that leg, something happened: Ingenuity began adjusting its velocity and tilting back and forth in an oscillating pattern. This behavior persisted throughout the rest of the flight. Prior to landing safely, onboard sensors indicated the rotorcraft encountered roll and pitch excursions of more than 20 degrees, large control inputs, and spikes in power consumption.\r\n\r\nDespite encountering this anomaly, Ingenuity was able to maintain flight and land safely on the surface within approximately 16 feet (5 meters) of the intended landing location.", "webcast_live": false, "location": "Airfield B, Jezero crater, Mars", "news_url": "https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter/status/302/plans-underway-for-ingenuitys-sixth-flight/", "video_url": null, "info_urls": [ { "priority": 10, "source": "mars.nasa.gov", "title": "Plans Underway for Ingenuity’s Sixth Flight - NASA", "description": "Plans are underway for NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter to make its sixth flight on the Red Planet in the next week.", "feature_image": null, "url": "https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter/status/302/plans-underway-for-ingenuitys-sixth-flight/", "type": null, "language": { "id": 1, "name": "English", "code": "en" } } ], "vid_urls": [], "feature_image": "https://thespacedevs-dev.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/media/images/nasa_mars_2020__image_20210409201945.jpeg", "date": "2021-05-27T19:26:00Z", "date_precision": null, "duration": null, "agencies": [], "launches": [], "expeditions": [], "spacestations": [], "program": [] }, { "id": 304, "url": "https://lldev.thespacedevs.com/2.2.0/event/304/?format=api", "slug": "nasa-mars-2020-ingenuity-eighth-flight", "name": "NASA Mars 2020 Ingenuity Eighth Flight", "updates": [], "last_updated": "2024-03-05T17:26:15Z", "type": { "id": 14, "name": "Test Flight" }, "description": "The 8th flight of Ingenuity Mars Helicopter took it to a new base of operations about 160 meters south of its previous location.", "webcast_live": false, "location": "Airfield D, Jezero crater, Mars", "news_url": "https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter/status/308/flight-8-success-software-updates-and-next-steps/", "video_url": null, "info_urls": [ { "priority": 10, "source": "mars.nasa.gov", "title": "Flight 8 Success, Software Updates, and Next Steps - NASA", "description": "As of June 21, 2021, Ingenuity Mars Helicopter has successfully flown its 8th flight, traveling about 525 feet (160 meters) south-southeast from Airfield D to the new Airfield E!", "feature_image": null, "url": "https://mars.nasa.gov/technology/helicopter/status/308/flight-8-success-software-updates-and-next-steps/", "type": null, "language": { "id": 1, "name": "English", "code": "en" } } ], "vid_urls": [], "feature_image": "https://thespacedevs-dev.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/media/images/nasa_mars_2020__image_20210409201945.jpeg", "date": "2021-06-22T00:27:00Z", "date_precision": null, "duration": null, "agencies": [], "launches": [], "expeditions": [], "spacestations": [], "program": [] }, { "id": 379, "url": "https://lldev.thespacedevs.com/2.2.0/event/379/?format=api", "slug": "bepicolombo-mercury-flyby", "name": "BepiColombo Mercury Flyby", "updates": [], "last_updated": "2024-03-05T17:26:19Z", "type": { "id": 23, "name": "Flyby" }, "description": "The ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission to Mercury will make the first of six flybys of its destination planet on 1 October before entering orbit in 2025.", "webcast_live": false, "location": "Mercury", "news_url": "https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/BepiColombo/Mercury_ahead%21", "video_url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cf3qFtz86U", "info_urls": [ { "priority": 10, "source": "www.esa.int", "title": "Mercury ahead!", "description": "The ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission to Mercury will make the first of six flybys of its destination planet on 1 October before entering orbit in 2025.", "feature_image": null, "url": "https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/BepiColombo/Mercury_ahead%21", "type": null, "language": { "id": 1, "name": "English", "code": "en" } } ], "vid_urls": [ { "priority": 10, "source": "youtube.com", "publisher": "JAXA相模原チャンネル", "title": "BepiColombo「みお」第1回水星スイングバイ#1 ライブ中継", "description": "BepiColombo「みお」が1回目の水星スイングバイを実施し、2021年10月2日08時34分頃に高度約200 kmまで最接近します。最接近の前後における探査機の位置(予測軌道)およびJAXA相模原の「みお」運用室で監視中の探査機ステータスの一部をライブ中継します。最接近のおよそ30分後には運用メンバのインタビューも!お楽しみに!\n#BepiColombo", "feature_image": "https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-cf3qFtz86U/maxresdefault.jpg", "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cf3qFtz86U", "type": { "id": 1, "name": "Official Webcast" }, "language": { "id": 6, "name": "Japanese", "code": "jp" }, "start_time": "2021-10-01T22:56:27Z", "end_time": "2021-10-02T00:31:38Z" } ], "feature_image": "https://thespacedevs-dev.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/media/images/bepicolombo_at__image_20240306080108.jpeg", "date": "2021-10-01T23:34:00Z", "date_precision": null, "duration": null, "agencies": [], "launches": [], "expeditions": [], "spacestations": [], "program": [] } ] }
